Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club 1st XI v Grange on Sat 28 May 2016 at 12:00
Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club Lost by 8 wkts

Match report The National League team were at home again on Saturday, which also saw the return of Gordon Goudie, playing for Grange CC.

After another poor toss, on a green but firm SDCC wicket, SDCC were asked to bat first. It was a slow but steady start, that saw SDCC reach 31-0 before a SDCC collapse to leave us 46-3 with Shaun, Brayden and Jordan back at the clubhouse.

With SDCC in a spot of bother, Matt and Ahklaq joined together to put on a . But with Brown and Bashir at the crease, we managed to claw our way back into the game. With the 50 run partnership before a lapse in concentration from Matt to get bowled for 31 and SDCC on 96-4.

Jack then joined Ahklaq and the pair put on a 53 partnership before a poor shot saw the departure of Ahklaq for 46, with another SDCC batsman making a start before giving his wicket away.

Other SDCC batsmen were able to come in and played themselves in but wickets began to fall regularly as Jack (28), Andrew, Jan (27) and Ewan all came and went. It was left to David and Michael to bring the final SDCC score up to 215-9 off their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, it is safe to keep this short and sweet much like the Heriots innings. Michael (1-41) was able to get an early wicket having Flannigan caught behind by Andrew for 4, as Heriots fell 8-1. However, returning SDCC alumni, Gordon Goudie, sent up the order due to a function he had to attend back in the Central Belt, then destroyed the bowling across all parts of People’s Park. No bowler was safe from his devastating innings as he plundered 132 runs off just 71 deliveries. At the other end, Farrar was playing a patient innings but still scoring at a strike rate of 111 as he and Gordon put on 202 before Gordon was dismissed to bring in Scotland captain, Preston Mommson to help complete the win inside 20 overs.
Grange win by 8 wickets.

Grange MoM: Gordon Goudie for his 132 where words fail to give credit to what a good innings he played. As a former SDCC player, it was made all the more sweeter as his family who are still local to the area, including his grandfather, were able to witness him score his first club hundred.

SDCC MoM: Ahklaq for his 46.

Highlight of the Game: Seeing a former SDCC player scoring his first club ton in front of his family who are still local to the area, including his grandfather.
